Microsoft releases May 2026 security updates

Microsoft has released updates to address multiple vulnerabilities in Microsoft software with Microsoft's May 2026 Patch Tuesday.

Of the fixed vulnerabilities: 61 are elevation of privilege vulnerabilities, 6 are Security Feature Bypass vulnerabilities, 31 are remote code execution vulnerabilities, 14 are information disclosure vulnerabilities, 8 are denial of service vulnerabilities and 13 are Spoofing Vulnerabilities.

As part of its Patch Tuesday update, Microsoft has fixed numerous vulnerabilities in Microsoft Office, Word, and Excel that could lead to remote code execution.

This month’s patch release also includes fixes for critical vulnerabilities, such as:

  • CVE-2026-35421 - Windows GDI Remote Code Execution Vulnerability;
  • CVE-2026-40365 - Microsoft SharePoint Server Remote Code Execution Vulnerability;
  • CVE-2026-41096 - Windows DNS Client Remote Code Execution Vulnerability.
