0patch has released a free micropatch for 0-day in Windows PsExec

The 0patch project has released a free micropatch that removes an elevation of privilege vulnerability in the Windows PsExec tool.

If the flaw is successfully exploited, an attacker can elevate the privileges of an arbitrary process to Local System and gain control of the victim's computer.

The PsExec security issue was discovered by David Wells, a malware researcher at Tenable.

The expert found out that the flaw affects versions of the operating system from Windows XP to Windows 10. It also became known that many PsExec releases were impacted - from v1.72 to v2.2.
