Popular registrar GoDaddy reported threats to WordPress sites
One of the world's largest domain registrars GoDaddy reported that a hacker gained access to the personal data of more than 1.2 million customers of its WordPress hosting service. An attacker gained access to the following information:
● Email addresses and customer numbers for up to 1.2 million active and inactive Managed WordPress customers;
● The original WordPress administrator password was discovered;
● sFTP (SSH File Transfer Protocol) and the database user names and passwords associated with its active clients;
● Private SSL keys for a subset of active clients;
As a precautionary measure, the company also stated it has reset the affected passwords and it's bolstering its provisioning system with added security protections.
