Malicious code added to Nano Adblocker and Nano Defender add-ons for Chrome
Ad blocking extensions, used by over 300 000 people, stealthily leaked data and tried to access users' social media accounts. As it turned out, the problem stems from the malicious component added by the new owner a few weeks ago. The developer of Nano Adblocker and Nano Defender add-ons Hugo Xu decided to sell the rights of Chrome versions of the extensions available in the corresponding store - the Chrome Web Store.
However, the new "owner" of the extensions decided to add the malicious code into the software. The creator of uBlock Origin Raymond Hill told about the unpleasant component of the program.
