Google will block sign-in on old Android devices starting September
Google has sent emails to Android users to inform about the end of support for devices running an outdated version of the OS. At the end of September this year, devices with Android 2.3.7 (Gingerbread) and below will no longer be able to log into Google accounts. Thus, when users try to log into their accounts, they will receive an error. In addition, users of old devices will no longer be able to create new accounts, perform a factory reset of device and change the password.
The developers recommend users to update their mobile devices and install Android version 3.0 or newer.
