Scammers spread malware disguised as Windows 11 installer
The operating system Windows 11 has not yet been officially released, but the new operating system is already available for download and preview. Threat actors, of course, are exploiting that, pushing malware to users under the guise of a new OS.
A dangerous virus was detected by Kaspersky Lab specialists in the file named 86307_windows 11 build 21996,1×64 + activator.exe.
The file size is 1.75 GB and it looks like an installation file of the operating system, but when it is launched, the virus will be unpacked, after which adware and even unnecessary programs will appear on the computer.
Kaspersky Lab recommends to download Windows 11 via the official website and even in this case don’t install the new OS on the main computer, since the new product has not yet been debugged and many of its subsystems can be unstable.
