Qualcomm vulnerability threatens nearly 40% of Android smartphones

A high severity security vulnerability found in Qualcomm's Mobile Station Modem (MSM) that threatens almost 40% of existing mobile devices on the Android market. Exploitation of this flaw could enable attackers to access to users' text messages, call history, and even listen in on conversations of smartphone owners.

Qualcomm MSM is a system on a chip used in approximately 40% of smartphones on the market today. Qualcomm MSM supports 2G, 3G, 4G, and 5G standards.

Vulnerable mobile devices include devices from such major manufacturers as Samsung, Google, LG, OnePlus and Xiaomi. The vulnerability tracked as CVE-2020-11292 also allows an attacker to gain access to information hidden in the subscriber's SIM card.
